The association between maternal renal function and pregnancy outcomes in type 1 and type 2 diabetes
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice May 22, 2020
Seah JM, Kam NM, Wong L, et al. - Researchers conducted an observational study of pregnant women with type 1 (n = 92) and type 2 diabetes (n = 106) in order to determine if estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and albuminuria could prognosticate pregnancy outcomes in these women. In the multivariable logistic regression with eGFR and albuminuria status, there was correlation between the presence of albuminuria and preeclampsia, whilst an eGFR of < 120 mL/min/1.73m2 was linked with preterm birth < 32 weeks. Data thus gained indicate the value eGFR and albuminuria in recognizing women at high risk of developing adverse obstetric outcomes.
