The association between maternal age and cerebral palsy risk factors
Pediatric Neurology Feb 22, 2018
Schneider RE, et al. - An inspection was performed of the tie-up between maternal age and specific risk factors for cerebral palsy (CP). It was determined that mothers aged 35 or older exhibited a greater tendency of having gestational diabetes, a history of miscarriage, underwent fertility treatments, and delivered by Cesarean. On the other hand, children with mothers below the age of 20 displayed a greater likelihood of presenting with a congenital malformation. Variation was found in the risk factor profiles of children with CP by maternal age.
