The association between inflammatory bowel disease and prostate cancer risk: A meta-analysis
Prostate Cancer & Prostatic Diseases Oct 11, 2019
Ge Y, et al. – Researchers performed a meta-analysis to determine the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and the risk of developing prostate cancer (PCa). According to findings, the risk of PCa was greater in individuals with ulcerative colitis (UC), but not in individuals with Crohn’s disease. Additionally, upon sensitivity analysis, outcomes were strong, and no significant publication bias was noted. Overall, men with IBD—particular UC—were found to have a considerably heightened risk of PCa. However, in order to determine the mechanism underlying the connection between IBD and PCa or clinically important PCa risk, the investigators noted that futher study is required.
