The association between genetic polymorphisms of interleukin 23 receptor gene and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis: An updated meta-analysis
Clinical Immunology Aug 21, 2019
Du J, et al. - By analyzing literature data, researchers sought to corroborate if seven single nucleotide polymorphisms of interleukin-23 receptor (IL-23R) gene are related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility. A meta-analysis was performed including 16 articles including 11,816 RA patients and 14,268 healthy controls. In Caucasians, rs11209026 polymorphism was significantly related to RA susceptibility. Additionally, a significantly increased frequency of the G allele of IL23R/rs10489629 was evident in RA patients of Caucasians and Asians. Also, the rs1343151 polymorphism was significantly related to RA susceptibility in Caucasians, as revealed in the meta-analysis. Overall, findings corroborated that the IL-23R gene might be treated as a susceptible factor for RA.
