The association between conditioned pain modulation and manipulation-induced analgesia in people with lateral epicondylalgia
The Clinical Journal of Pain Apr 12, 2019
Muhsen A, et al. - Researchers examined how conditioned pain modulation (CPM) is associated with manipulation-induced analgesia (MIA) responses in people with lateral epicondylalgia. Assessment of CPM followed by MIA was done in 70 participants with lateral epicondylalgia. Measurement of pressure pain thresholds (PPT) before, during, and after cold water immersion (10°C) of the asymptomatic hand and contralateral lateral glide (CLG) mobilization of the neck were done by a single assessor. Outcomes revealed a significant increase in PPT from baseline during the interventions and after the interventions. This study showed a significant correlation between CPM and MIA responses and a significant predictive value of CPM response for MIA response.
