Molfino A, et al. - This study investigated for any possible correlation between changes in bicarbonate and changes in thyroid function in patients with end-stage renal disease receiving conventional or more frequent hemodialysis. Findings demonstrated that after adjusting for equilibrated normalized protein catabolic rate (enPCR), as a marker of nutritional status, no association was observed between changes in bicarbonate and changes in thyroid hormone levels.
