Hepatology Jul 31, 2021
Park Y, Sinn DH, Oh JH, et al. - A Nationwide cohort study was conducted to explore the relationship between breastfeeding and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in Parous women. Researchers recruited a total of 6,893 Korean parous women aged 30-50 years who participated in the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for the relationship between breastfeeding and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). They computed the duration of lactation by dividing the total lactation period by the number of breastfed children. According to the findings, breastfeeding demonstrated a protective effect against NAFLD in later life of parous women, implying a maternal benefit of breastfeeding on NAFLD.
