International Journal of General Medicine Jun 19, 2021
Wang L, et al. - Whether and how blood pressure (BP) is related to headache in postmenopausal women, was investigated herein. Participants were postmenopausal women who were hospitalized from January 2015 to December 2019. These were screened based on the criteria. Participants were examined for their systolic BP (SBP), diastolic BP (DBP), pulse pressure (PP). Data regarding age, body mass index, smoking status, caffeine intake, cholesterol levels, and daily alcohol use, were obtained. There were 1571 postmenopausal females, including 953 headache-free population and 618 headache participants during the studied periods. Findings demonstrated SBP and PP were negatively associated with new occurrence of headache, particularly migraine and tension-type headache, however, no link was found between DBP and the subsequent development of headache.
