The association between alcohol consumption and risk of hip fracture differs by age and gender in Cohort of Norway: A NOREPOS study
Osteoporosis International Jul 19, 2018
Søgaard AJ, et al. - In the population-based Cohort of Norway, authors evaluated the alcohol consumption and risk of hip fracture by age and gender. The highest risk of hip fracture was seen in men < 60 years with the highest frequency and amount of alcohol consumption, and in non-drinking women. The highest fracture risk was seen in never/seldom-drinking women vs women with moderate or frequent alcohol use. Findings suggested an association of wine consumption in women with lower fracture risk than other types of alcohol.
