The analgesic efficacy of intravenous lidocaine infusion after laparoscopic fundoplication: A prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Local and Regional Anesthesia Aug 12, 2017
Dale GJ, et al. – In this study, the efficacy of intravenous lidocaine infusion in attenuating postoperative pain intensity after laparoscopic fundoplication surgery was tested. Researchers also intended to validate the safety of intravenous lidocaine at the dose tested. Findings demonstrated that intravenous lidocaine failed to offer clinically significant analgesia to patients undergoing laparoscopic fundoplication. Data revealed patients who experienced adverse events had serum lidocaine concentration within the therapeutic range. This trial could not confirm the safety of intravenous lidocaine at the dose tested.
