Journal of Pain Research Apr 06, 2021
Liang XL, et al. - Via performing a meta-analysis of published randomized clinical trials (RCTs), researchers sought to determine the analgesic effects of thoracic epidural anesthesia (TEA) vs thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) after thoracoscopic surgery. PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane library yielded five RCTs with a total of 458 patients for inclusion in this study. Per outcomes, statistically significant but clinically unimportant short-term benefits post thoracoscopic surgery are provided by TEA vs TPVB.
