The all-soft tissue quadriceps tendon autograft in revision ACL reconstruction: Early and intermediate-term outcomes in 100 patients
Arthroscopy Mar 28, 2021
Hunnicutt JL, Haynes WB, Slone HS, et al. - This study was undertaken to explore the early to intermediate-term clinical outcomes and complications of revision ACL reconstruction (ACLR) using all-soft tissue quadriceps tendon (QT) autografts, and to correlate quadriceps strength between patients who had hamstring vs. patella tendon autografts in their previous reconstruction. Researchers included a total of 100 patients (52 males:48 females; 22.6±8.0years) who had undergone revision ACLR with all-soft tissue QT autografts. It has been reported that revision ACLR with all-soft tissue QT autografts has acceptable early and intermediate-term outcomes with reasonable complication rates (11/80 patients with follow-up). The outcomes revealed that secondary insult to the extensor mechanism via QT autograft harvest does not adversely affect strength following prior patellar tendon vs hamstring autograft.
