Pinato DJ, et al. - This large, multi-center retrospective study was performed to assess whether the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) grade (which was a more accurate marker of liver dysfunction in hepatocellular carcinoma) could identify patients with progressive liver dysfunction in the context of HIV/hepatitis co-infection. In HIV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the albumin-bilirubin grade underscored the interplay between liver reserve and immune dysfunction as prognostic determinants.
