The accumulation of metabolic syndrome components is associated with a higher risk of positive surgical margin among patients with localized prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy
OncoTargets and Therapy Mar 06, 2019
Zheng X, et al. - Authors examined 1083 cases to estimate the relationship between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and accumulation of its elements with prostate cancer (PCa) after radical prostatectomy. They categorized the candidates as low risk and intermediate-high risk according to International Society of Urological Pathology grade. They observed no vital association between MetS and survival outcomes and pathological features. Although, they noted an incline in the gradient of the PSM risk in the entire cohort and intermediate-high risk group due to the accumulation of the MetS components.
