Soliman IW, et al. - This study examined the reliability of physicians' prognoses for intensive care unit (ICU) survivors with respect to long-term survival and health related quality of life (HRQoL). An incorrect prediction of long-term survival and HRQoL via prognoses estimated by physicians was seen in one-third of ICU survivors. In addition, it was observed that generally, over-optimistic expectations of outcome was the reason for inaccurate prognoses.
