The -1195A>G polymorphism in Ciclooxygenase-2 gene is associated with lower risk of endometriosis
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Aug 28, 2020
da Silva MC, Machado DE, Cardoso JV, et al. - Via genotyping DNA from 254 women with endometriosis and 267 controls using TaqMan allelic discrimination assays, researchers sought to determine the potential role of the PTGS2 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) -1195 A > G and +8473 T > C in endometriosis’ development. Further, they characterized their correlation with the prognostic features of the disease. Outcomes suggest negative correlation of PTGS2 -1195A > G SNP with development of endometriosis. Significant differences were observed between cases and controls with respect to age, BMI, educational level, physical activity, smoking status, contraception use, family history of endometriosis and all symptoms.
