Th17/treg ratio in serum predicts onset of postoperative atrial fibrillation after off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Sep 28, 2017
He Y, et al. - This study assessed if the balance between T helper 17 (Th17) cells and CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells could serve as a predictor of postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) following coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). Findings indicated an involvement of Th17/Treg imbalance in the development of POAF. This Th17/Treg imbalance was ascribed to a Th17 shift and was representative of a pro-inflammatory tendency. A more accurate, sensitive, and specific predictor of POAF may be obtained by combining Th17/Treg ratio with C-reactive protein (CRP) level.
