TFE3 is a diagnostic marker for solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas
Human Pathology Jul 24, 2018
Jiang Y, et al. - In the present study, researchers assessed transcription factor E3 (TFE3) as a marker for solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas (SPN). They analyzed paraffin embedded tissues of SPN and other primary pancreatic tumors, including pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNET), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC), pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas (PanNEC) and acinar cell carcinomas (ACC). They found that SPN might originate from primordial pancreatic cells and was accompanied by some characteristics of neuroendocrine tumors. Results of this study suggested that TFE3 could be a new diagnostic marker in the identification of SPN and other primary pancreatic tumors.
