Testosterone profiles after brachytherapy for localized prostate cancer
Urology Feb 06, 2019
Taniguchi H, et al. - A total of 102 patients were analyzed by investigators to estimate the serum total testosterone levels (STLs) of candidates following brachytherapy (BT) for prostate cancer. Participants underwent permanent interstitial BT using I125 without androgen deprivation therapy for localized prostate cancer and were then followed for 24–60 months afterwards. They recorded 4.18 ng/mL as the median pre-implantation STL. A significant decline in STL to a median nadir of 89.4% of baseline (3.72 ng/mL) at 6 months was noticed, with recovery to baseline 18 months following I125-based BT.
