Testicular histopathology, semen analysis and FSH, predictive value of sperm retrieval: Supportive counseling in case of reoperation after testicular sperm extraction (TESE)
BMC Urology Jul 12, 2018
Gnessi L, et al. - Researchers ascertained the effect of different parameters, including testicular histopathology, on sperm retrieval in case of reoperation in patients undergoing testicular sperm extraction. As this model could reliably predict the chance of obtaining spermatozoa with testicular sperm extraction the practitioner could be helped with counseling infertile men when a repeat attempt is planned. After multivariable analysis, for shorter time for sperm retrieval, younger age, better semen parameters, better histological features and lower values of FSH remained predictive while for successful sperm retrieval, better semen and histology were identified as predictive factors.
