Tenecteplase vs alteplase between 3 and 4.5 hours in Low National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale
Stroke Jan 09, 2019
Rønning OM, et al. – In this study involving patients treated 3-4.5 hours following ischemic stroke, researchers compared the effectiveness and safety of tenecteplase to alteplase for thrombolysis. The investigators analyzed data from a prespecified substudy of patients included in the Norwegian Tenecteplase Stroke Trial—a randomized control trial that compared tenecteplase with alteplase. For this study population, the median admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale was 3. Intracranial hemorrhage rates in the first 48 hours in the tenecteplase group were 5.7% and 6.7 in the alteplase group. According to findings, in patients with mild stroke treated 3-4.5 hours after ischemic stroke, tenecteplase is at least as effective as alteplase to achieve a good clinical result.
