Hu WH, et al. - The researchers performed this study to compare 2 groups of patients receiving and not receiving closure to determine the effects on postoperative outcomes. The temporary closure of colostomy with suture improved takedown outcomes, with the advantage of enhancing traction and decreasing contamination, including a shorter operative time and lower wound infection rate.
