Temporal changes in characteristics, treatment and outcomes of heart failure patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: Findings from Melbourne Interventional Group registry
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Jun 13, 2019
Chin KL, et al. - Researchers used data from the Melbourne Interventional Group, to evaluate temporal patterns in patient features, treatment and results of patients with heart failure (HF) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. Overall 1,604 patients' data were analyzed. Between January 2005 and December 2014, the number of procedures performed annually and patient features did not alter significantly. Throughout the study duration, improvement in the optimal use of HF therapy has been reported. With increasing use of drug-eluting stents, planned clopidogrel therapy of more than 12 months increased in tandem. A high (≥90%) procedural success was achieved. However, during the study duration, no change was evident in the rates of major adverse cardiac events, cardiovascular readmission, all-cause death and cardiovascular mortality.
