Tea consumption and risk of fractures: An updated meta-analysis
Osteoporosis International Jul 26, 2019
Xiang W, et al. - In this meta-analysis of 16 studies, including seven cohort studies and nine case-control studies, with 772,707 participants, researchers assessed the risk of fractures in relation to tea consumption. From PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases, they selected relevant articles published up to March 2019. They identified 37,166 fracture cases. For the highest vs lowest category of tea intake, the estimated relative risks (95% confidence intervals) of fracture were 0.86 (0.78–0.94). Significant links in cohort studies and case-control studies were suggested in subgroup analysis. As per the findings of this current meta-analysis, a possible link is suggested between tea consumption and a reduced risk of fractures.
