Targeting behavioral symptoms and functional decline in dementia: A randomized clinical trial
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Dec 02, 2017
Gitlin LN, et al. - The researchers performed this randomized clinical trial to ascertain whether a home-based activity program (Tailored Activity Program; TAP-VA) would decrease behavioral symptoms and functional dependence of veterans with dementia and caregiver burden. Findings revealed positive immediate effects and no adverse events with TAP-VA. It was a viable treatment option for families because TAP-VA reduced behavioral symptoms, slows functional dependence, and alleviates pain and caregiver distress.
