Systemic inflammation response index predicts prognosis in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma: A propensity score-matched analysis
Cancer Management and Research Jan 24, 2019
Chen Z, et al. - Researchers examined the prognostic significance of the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) in 414 patients with localized or locally advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC). SIRI was defined based on peripheral blood counts of neutrophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes. The findings were validated in an independent cohort composed of 168 patients. They noted poorer overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) among CCRCC patients with high SIRI levels vs those with low SIRI levels. As per univariate and multivariate analyses, SIRI is a significant independent predictor for both OS and CSS. These findings suggest SIRI could predict outcomes better than platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center score in patients with localized or locally advanced CCRCC.
