Wang, LY, et al. - This nationwide population-based cohort study examined the association between systemic autoimmune diseases (SADs) and the subsequent development of bipolar disorder (BD), and investigated the potential risk factors for developing BD. The researchers confirmed that SADs were correlated with higher incidence of BD. Therefore, implying that abnormal autoimmune process was associated with increased expression of psychiatric disturbances.
