Systematic review of aortic dissection detection risk score plus D-dimer for diagnostic rule‐out of suspected acute aortic syndromes
Academic Emergency Medicine Mar 24, 2020
Bima P, Pivetta E, Nazerian P, et al. - In view of the encountered difficulty in taking decision on advanced aortic imaging in patients at low clinical probability of acute aortic syndromes (AASs), researchers assume integration of the aortic dissection detection risk score (ADD‐RS) with D‐dimer (DD) as a potential pipeline for standardized diagnostic rule‐out. They performed a systematical review and inscribed the supporting data. From MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web Of Science databases, they screened 680 relevant studies; of these, 4 articles (including a total of 3,804 patients) met inclusion criteria. Outcomes suggest that integration of ADD‐RS = 0 or ≤ 1 with DD < 500 ng/mL shows negligible heterogeneity and consistently high sensitivity across studies despite methodological limitations. This supports its possible reliability for diagnostic rule‐out of AASs.
