Systematic review and meta-analysis of genetic risk factors for neuropathic pain
Pain May 02, 2018
Veluchamy A, et al. - Researchers systematically reviewed and summarized the studies in humans that investigated how genetic factors influence neuropathic pain (NP). Researchers undertook a comprehensive literature search and meta-analyses of all the potential genetic variants associated with NP. They identified that genetic factors are important and provide a specific contribution to the risk of developing NP. Variants in HLA-DRB1*13, HLA-DRB1*04, HLA-DQB1*03, HLA-A*33, and HLA-B*44 were significantly associated with the risk of developing NP, however, variants in HLA-A*02 decreased the risk, and rs4680 in COMT nor rs1799971 in OPRM1 were significantly associated with NP.
