Systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical significance of autoantibodies for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
BMJ Open Jun 06, 2019
Kamiya H, et al. - Via conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of nine studies, researchers examined the clinical significance of the sole presence of autoantibodies for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) without any other symptoms or signs indicating autoimmune disease. According to findings, the presence of autoantibodies like myeloperoxidase antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody and antinuclear antibody may be linked to the development of some autoimmune diseases for IPF patients. However, there was no difference of all-cause mortality. Due to the low evidence level, the investigators advised that these results should be interpreted with caution.
