Systematic review and meta‐analysis on prevalence of metabolic syndrome in psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Jun 06, 2021
Loganathan A, Kamalaraj N, El-Haddad C, et al. - Researchers investigated if psoriatic arthritis (PsA) populations have an increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) relative to psoriasis (PsO) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) populations. This systematic review was performed following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines. In PsA populations, the pooled prevalence of MetS was estimated to be 0.46 ± 0.06, vs MetS prevalence in PsO and RA populations was noted to be 0.34 ± 0.03 and 0.31 ± 0.04, respectively. Findings demonstrate significantly increased prevalence of MetS in PsA populations relative to PsO and RA populations.
