Lai SW, et al. - The existence of an association between oral corticosteroids use with the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma was investigated by the authors among high-risk populations in Taiwan. Findings brought to light a synergistic effect between oral corticosteroids use and the traditional risk factors on the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma. Regular ultrasound surveillance was recommended for people with risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma, especially when they currently used oral corticosteroids.
