Switched memory B cells are increased in oligoarticular and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and their change over time is related to response to TNF inhibitors
Arthritis & Rheumatism Jan 11, 2018
Marasco E, et al. - Herein, researchers investigated JIA patients for the possible correlation between abnormalities in B-cell subsets and clinical features and response to treatment. Compared with healthy children, JIA patients exhibited a faster rate of expansion of switched memory B-cells (SwM B-cells) during disease course. This increase was more evident in early-onset JIA. Notably, in cases with achieved and maintained remission, but not in those with active disease, TNF inhibitors treatment inhibited this increase.
