Sustained risk of stent thrombosis and restenosis in first generation drug-eluting Stents after One Decade of Follow-up: A Report from the Swedish Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty Registry (SCAAR)
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions May 21, 2018
Völz S, et al. - Using data from the SCAAR registry, researchers assessed drug-eluting stents and bare metal stents that were previously frequently used and their association with the long-term risk of restenosis and stent thrombosis (ST). They looked at consecutive procedures performed between 2004 and 2014 for stable angina, UA/NSTEMI, and STEMI. The results of this study demonstrated that treatment with Cordis Cypher Select (C-CS) was not associated with better outcome than Boston Scientific Liberte (BS-L). Findings revealed that persistence of restenosis and ST long after the index procedure with C-CS are a major concern for patient safety.
