Survival outcomes of combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma compared with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: A SEER population-based cohort study
Cancer Medicine Dec 11, 2021
Yang Z, Shi G, et al. - Researchers aimed at comparing combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (CHC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and investigating the treatment and survival of patients with CHC.
From the SEER database, researchers retrieved data of a total of 1,066 consecutive patients who had been diagnosed with CHC (n = 286) or ICC (n = 780).
Better long-term survival outcomes were achieved in patients with CHC in correlation with receiving surgical intervention vs nonsurgical treatments.
The OS rate of CHC patients vs ICC patients was comparable in the initial 36 months and better in the subsequent follow-up after treatment.
