Survival outcomes in T4aN0M0 mandibular gingival squamous cell carcinoma treated with surgery alone
Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Jan 06, 2019
Nassiri AM, et al. - Authors studied adult candidates who were treated surgically with an oral cavity composite resection from January 2005 to March 2017 to estimate the disease-specific, disease-free, and overall survival rates among those affected with T4aN0M0 mandibular gingival squamous cell carcinoma and treated with surgery alone. They obtained the data related to tumor subsite involvement, restoration method, and intraoperative surgical complexities and pathology records. They found that the respective 1- and 5-year survival rates were as follows: 90.5% and 84.5% for disease free, 87.8% and 81.9% for disease specific, and 86.4% and 80.6% for overall survival. These rates indicated that surgery solely had prevented morbidities linked with adjuvant therapy.
