Survival outcomes and prognostic factors of open partial laryngeal surgery: A 30-years’ experience

In order to investigate survival outcomes and to critically examine prognostic factors for open partial laryngeal surgery (OPLS), the authors presented their 30-years’ institutional experience. From 1982 to 2016, all cases of OPLS performed at the institution for LC were reviewed. According to results, cT and cN stage were the two major risk factors significantly linked to the risk of death. OPLS represents an oncologically sound option in the treatment of LC was confirmed in spite of the emergence of non-surgical strategies and new transoral mininvasive techniques. The findings demonstrate that in this type of surgery, precise staging, proper selection of the patient and strong surgical expertise are of paramount importance.
