Survival of patients with lung cancer in the setting of liver cirrhosis: A multicenter propensity score matching study

Cancer Management and Research Jun 04, 2021

Lu MS, Lu HI, Chen TP, et al. - This retrospective, multicenter, propensity-matched study was undertaken to assess if liver cirrhosis represents an independent risk factor for the survival of patients suffering from lung cancer. Participants included lung cancer patients with and without liver cirrhosis. The median overall survival was estimated to be 13.07 months in patients with cirrhosis and 13.67 months in those without cirrhosis. In Cox proportional hazards regression analysis, liver cirrhosis was not found to be an independent risk factor for poor result. No significant difference in survival rates was observed between lung cancer patients with and without cirrhosis. Improved survival was evident in relation to both higher serum albumin concentrations and lower Charlson Comorbidity Index scores.
