Head & Neck May 28, 2019
Bugter O, et al. - Researchers collected patient and tumor specific data of 1372 patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) from both the national cancer registry and patient records to assess the incidence and survival rate of HNSCC patients with multiple primary tumors (MPT) in the HN-region, lung, or esophagus. Observations revealed the development of MPTs in the HN-region, lung, or esophagus in 1 of 10 patients with HNSCC. Surprisingly favorable 5-year survival was noted for patients with metachronous HN MPTs.
