Survival in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with sarcoma in the Military Health System: Comparison with the SEER population
Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Aug 10, 2021
Vasta LM, Zanetti RC, Anderson AB, et al. - When compared with data from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER), the Automated Central Tumor Registry (ACTUR) database showed significantly improved overall survival for soft tissue sarcomas and equivalent survival for bone sarcomas.
The final analysis involved 309 and 1,236 bone sarcoma cases from ACTUR and SEER, respectively, as well as 465 and 1,860 soft tissue sarcoma cases.
Soft tissue sarcoma patients in ACTUR had significantly better overall and 5-year overall survival than SEER patients, according to a Cox proportional hazards analysis, but there was no significant difference in overall or 5-year overall survival between ACTUR and SEER patients with bone sarcoma.
