Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Aug 08, 2021
Yan BY, Barilla S, Strunk A, et al. - Survival in acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM) varies by socioeconomic status (SES) and race.
SEER database (2000 to 2016) was used and 2,245 patients with a first ALM diagnosis were included.
Five-year disease-specific survival was 77.8%.
Relative to highest quintile patients, 1.33 and 1.42 times the risk of death was noted in the lowest and second-to-lowest SES quintile groups, respectively, post-adjustment.
Hispanic White and Black patients, vs non-Hispanic Whites, had 1.48 and 1.25 times the risk of death, respectively.
