Survival and recurrence patterns of multifocal glioblastoma after radiation therapy
Cancer Management and Research Oct 12, 2018
Syed M, et al. - Researchers assessed unifocal glioblastoma (uGBM) vs multifocal glioblastoma (mGBM) regarding progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) and other factors associated with outcome. They retrospectively analyzed 265 patients with primary GBM undergoing radiation therapy at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany, between 2004 and 2013. Findings suggested GBM is the most common primary brain tumor in adults, and is associated with poor survival, but multifocality is an independent predictive factor for survival. They observed that both uGBM and mGBM benefit from temozolomide therapy, and no significant differences were found in the progression patterns of uGBM and mGBM.
