Survival and associated risk factors for mortality among infants with critical congenital heart disease in a developing country
Pediatric Cardiology May 17, 2018
Mat Bah MN, et al. - Using a retrospective cohort study of infants born with critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) from 2006 to 2015, the researchers analyzed CCHD survival and the risk factors for CCHD mortality. Using Kaplan–Meier analysis, survival over 10 years was estimated. Using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression, the risk factors for mortality were analyzed. The sample consisted of four hundred ninety-one CCHD cases. They reported that CCHD was linked with a high mortality rate. The significant risk factors affecting the survival of infants with CCHD were low weight, poor pre-operative condition, associated syndromes, and non-duct-dependent CCHD.
