Survival after radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy for locally advanced (cT3) prostate cancer
World Journal of Urology May 08, 2018
Bandini M, et al. - Experts compared the survival outcomes of radical prostatectomy (RP) and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in patients harboring cT3N0-1 prostate cancer (PCa). They conducted sensitivity analyses in cT3N0-only patients, after other cause of mortality (OCM) propensity score matching, and through landmark analyses. Compared to EBRT, cancer-specific mortality (CSM) was significantly lower after RP in cT3N0-1 PCa. Throughout the entire range of baseline PSA and even in cT3N0 subgroup, as well as after OCM propensity score matching and landmark analyses, a lower CSM was recorded. Significantly higher 10-year CSM and OCM rates after EBRT were seen.
