Survival after a nationwide introduction of robotic surgery in women with early-stage endometrial cancer: A population-based prospective cohort study
European Journal of Cancer Feb 25, 2019
Jørgensen SK, et al. - Researchers evaluated how a nationwide introduction of robotic minimally invasive surgery (RMIS) has influenced survival in women with early-stage endometrial cancer. Using the nationwide Danish Gynaecological Cancer Database, they extracted prospective data on consecutive women with early-stage endometrial cancer who underwent surgery during January 2005 to June 2015 in Denmark. Analysis revealed improved survival outcomes in correlation with the national introduction of robotic surgery for early-stage endometrial cancer irrespective of age, body mass index, American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) score, comorbidity, smoking, socioeconomic status and histopathological risk.
