Survey of obstetrician-gynecologists in the United States about trichomoniasis, 2016
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Jan 04, 2019
Liu EW, et al. - Authors assessed American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists members in an online survey in 2016 regarding the knowledge, attitudes, and practices concerning trichomoniasis and finding the inconsistencies between practice and guidance in screening/treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive cases and retesting/retreatment. They observed only 29.0% of the cases were retreated with metronidazole 500 mg twice a day for 7 days in individuals who had failed prior treatment. Conclusively, they recommended a need of advancing education for this common but “neglected” nonviral sexually transmitted infection (STI).
