American Journal of Clinical Oncology Oct 08, 2019
Li L, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers compared the surgical, urinary, and survival outcomes between nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy (NSRH) and traditional radical hysterectomy (TRH) for stage IB cervical cancer, in which a single practitioner performed all the primary procedures. The study sample consisted of patients with cervical cancer of International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage IB if they received radical hysterectomy of class III or type C in 1 center between February 2001 and November 2015. In total, 406 patients were identified, including 111 in the TRH group and 295 in the NSRH group. According to findings, NSRH had better urinary results for stage IB cervical cancer patients than TRH without compromising safety and survival benefits.
