Olesen WH, et al. - In view of the frequent recurrence of primary spontaneous pneumothorax after chest tube management, researchers here investigated if patients may benefit from surgery following their first episode. To prevent recurrence, surgery was proved to be an effective treatment in patients with their first presentation of primary spontaneous pneumothorax. They recommended it to be the standard of care when high-resolution computed tomography demonstrates bullae≥2cm.
