Surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. 3-year results from a randomized controlled clinical trial

Carcuac O, et al. - In this randomized controlled clinical trial, the researchers reported on the 3-year follow-up of patients enrolled in a surgical treatment of advanced peri-implantitis. They observed that surgical treatment of peri-implantitis was viable and that outcomes of therapy were affected by implant surface characteristics. It was noted that potential benefits of systemic antibiotics were not sustained over 3 years.
