Surgical recurrence in Crohn's disease: A comparison between different types of bowel resections
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Mar 06, 2018
Aaltonen G, et al. - This trial incorporated a comparative scrutiny of the recurrence frequency and location between different types of bowel resections in Crohn’s disease patients. Data illustrated lower reoperation frequency in Crohn’s disease following ileocolic resection than after other types of bowel resections. It was noted that the surgical recurrence in Crohn’s disease tended to maintain disease location of the primary operation. New bowel resections due to recurrence were warranted in one-third of Crohn’s patients undergoing an end stoma operation.
